Virginia Retirement System Disability

Virginia Retirement System Disability Benefits

The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) offers disability retirement benefits to eligible employees of the state, school divisions, and VRS-participating political subdivisions, such as state police, local law enforcement, VDOT employees, and school personnel.   You may be able to retire on VRS disability if you suffer from conditions including a physical injury or mental illness.  Your disability need not be work-related, but if it is as a result of your work, see the section below to learn more about retiring on VRS work-related disability benefits.   You can also learn more at the Virginia Retirement System’s website.  You can always just contact our office today to set up an appointment with Kerry to learn more about your benefit options.

Work-Related Disability Retirement Benefits

If you are a Virginia Retirement System (VRS) eligible employee injured on the job and your injury is compensable under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act, you may be eligible to retire on work-related disability through VRS.  To recieve work-related disability benefits, you must have applied for workers’ compensation, a process that our office can assist you with.  You can also learn more by visiting the work-related disability retirement benefits page on the VRS’ website. As always, Kerry would be glad to help you navigate the benefits process through VRS and the Workers’ Compensation Commission.  Just contact our office today for a free consultation.
